Another 220 died over the school\u2019s next 38 years. \r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe young ones are among the more than 3,100 students a year-long <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/investigations\/interactive\/2024\/native-american-deaths-burial-sites-boarding-schools\/\">Washington Post investigation<\/a> finds died while separated from their families in Indian boarding schools. Their tally is three times that of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doi.gov\/priorities\/strengthening-indian-country\/federal-indian-boarding-school-initiative\">recent investigation by the U.S. Department of Interior<\/a>.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n Many of the deaths are attributed to illness, accidents, or neglect.
