They follow:\r\n<P><\/p>\r\n<div class=mx-4>\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/2783\">S.2783<\/a>, the Miccosukee Reserved Area Amendments Act. The bill adds an area known as <a href=https:\/\/www.rubio.senate.gov\/rubio-colleagues-introduce-bill-to-incorporate-osceola-camp-into-miccosukee-reserved-area\/>Osceola Camp<\/a> to the reservation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/miccosukee.com\/miccosukee-tribe-history\/\">Miccosukee Tribe<\/a>. The land is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/ever\/learn\/news\/osceola-cure-plan-ea.htm\">located within the Everglades National Park<\/a> in Florida. A hearing took place on <a href=https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2024\/07\/12\/video-legislative-hearing-to-receive-testimony-on-s-2783-s-3406-s-3857-s-4365\/>July 10<\/a>, featuring <a href=https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/indianz\/talbert-cypress-miccosukee>testimony from Chairman Talbert Cypress<\/a>.\r\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"20\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/1868328807&#038;color=%23ff5500&#038;inverse=false&#038;auto_play=false&#038;show_user=false\"><\/iframe>\r\n<P><\/p>\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/3406\">S.3406<\/a>, the Technical Corrections to the Northwestern New Mexico Rural Water Projects Act, Taos Pueblo \r\nIndian Water Rights Settlement Act, and Aamodt Litigation Settlement Act. The bill <a href=https:\/\/fernandez.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/rep-leger-fernandez-senator-lujan-introduce-legislation-amend-water-rights>authorizes appropriations for water projects<\/a> that would benefit the   <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/jicarillaapachenationpr\/\">Jicarilla Apache Nation<\/a>, the <a href=https:\/\/www.navajo-nsn.gov\/>Navajo Nation<\/a> and five Pueblo tribes.  A total of $18.4 million would be appropriated by the measure. A hearing took place on <a href=https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2024\/07\/12\/video-legislative-hearing-to-receive-testimony-on-s-2783-s-3406-s-3857-s-4365\/>July 10<\/a>, featuring <a href=https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/indianz\/jason-freihage-department-of-2>testimony from the Biden administration<\/a> in support of the legislation.\r\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"20\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/1868328819&#038;color=%23ff5500&#038;inverse=false&#038;auto_play=false&#038;show_user=false\"><\/iframe>\r\n<P><\/p>\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/4000\">S.4000<\/a>, A bill to reaffirm the applicability of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Indian_Reorganization_Act\">Indian Reorganization Act<\/a> to the Lytton Rancheria of California, and for other purposes. The bill confirms that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lyttonrancheria.com\/\">Lytton Rancheria<\/a>, headquartered in California, can follow the land-into-trust process under the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Indian_Reorganization_Act\">Indian Reorganization Act<\/a>. It also confirms that any land-into-trust acquisitions made for the tribe, whose federal recognition was reaffirmed in 1991 as part of litigation, are part of the tribe&#8217;s reservation. A hearing took place on <a href=https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2024\/06\/18\/video-legislative-hearing-to-receive-testimony-on-s-2908-s-3263-s-4000-s-4442\/>June 12<\/a>, featuring <a href=https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/indianz\/andy-mejia-lytton-rancheria>testimony from Chairperson Andy Mejia<\/a>.\r\n <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"20\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/1847743401&#038;color=%23ff5500&#038;inverse=false&#038;auto_play=false&#038;show_user=false\"><\/iframe>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nImmediately following the meeting, the committee will hold a legislative hearing to take testimony on two bills. They follow:\r\n<P><\/p>\r\n<div class=mx-4>\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/4370\">S.4370<\/a>, the Tribal Forest Protection Act Amendments Act of 2024. The bill <a href=https:\/\/www.indian.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-release\/republican\/murkowski-introduces-legislation-amending-the-tribal-forest-protection-act-to-work-better-for-all-tribes-including-in-alaska\/>ensures that  Alaska Native corporations can participate in stewardship<\/a> of federal forest lands. It also addresses a requirement that has limited tribal participation on lands important to their communities.\r\n<P><\/p>\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/senate-bill\/4505\">S.4505<\/a>, the Ohkay Owingeh Rio Chama Water Rights Settlement Act. The bill <a href=https:\/\/www.heinrich.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/heinrich-leger-fernandez-introduce-legislation-to-approve-ohkay-owingeh-water-rights-settlement>settles the water rights<\/a> of <a href=https:\/\/ohkay.org\/>Ohkay Owingeh<\/a> in the Rio Chama Basin of New Mexico.\r\n<\/div>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe business meeting and legislative hearing take place at 2pm on Thursday in Room 628 of the Senate Dirksen Office Building.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\">Senate Committee on Indian Affairs Notice<\/div>\r\n<a href=https:\/\/www.indian.senate.gov\/hearings\/legislative-hearing-to-receive-testimony-on-s-4370-s-4505\/>Business Meeting to consider S. 2783, S. 3406, S. 4000, S. 4365 and Legislative Hearing to receive testimony on S. 4370 &#038;
