The support line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n\u201cBIE schools play a critical role in student\u2019s lives that extends beyond the classroom and into their communities and the tribal nations that they are part of,\u201d   Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Bryan Newland, a political appointee at the Department of the Interior, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/01\/bie020124.pdf\">news release<\/a> on Thursday \u201cThe mental health and wellness services provided through this program will also extend beyond the classroom, creating healthier and more resilient communities.\u201d\r\n<P><\/p>\r\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Bureau of Indian Education is increasing behavioral health and wellness support by launching a 24\/7 support line for students and staff at schools and programs funded by the bureau.<br><br>Read more here \u27a1\ufe0f <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QfYCHGtzQt\">https:\/\/t.co\/QfYCHGtzQt<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MD6Pghtrbc\">pic.twitter.com\/MD6Pghtrbc<\/a><\/p>&mdash; BureauIndianEdu (@BureauIndianEdu) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BureauIndianEdu\/status\/1753089998411202853?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 1, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\r\n<P><\/P>\r\nThe support line is staffed primarily by counselors with experience serving Native communities, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bia.gov\/news\/bureau-indian-education-launches-behavioral-health-call-line-students-and-staff\">news release<\/a>. They will offer crisis and non-criss services to callers.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n\u201cThis program is designed to offer individual, culturally relevant crisis support, ensuring that both students and staff have access to the personalized assistance they need,\u201d said BIE Director Tony Dearman. \u201cMental health is essential to success &#8212; in academics and in life. This program empowers our students and staff to thrive in the classroom while fostering the overall well-being of our entire community.\u201d\r\n<p><\/p><div class=\"mt-1 mb-1\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8411603009680747\" data-ad-slot=\"6394965691\"><\/ins><script>(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/div><p><\/p>\r\nThe support line is part of the <a href=https:\/\/www.doi.gov\/pressreleases\/interior-department-announces-behavioral-health-and-wellness-program-tribal-schools>Behavioral Health and Wellness Program<\/a> at the BIE. Services are provided through a contract awarded to <a href=https:\/\/www.tribaltechllc.com>Tribal Tech, LLC<\/a>, a Native-owned business.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\nThe BIE operates and oversees 183   schools serving approximately 45,000 students, along with two postsecondary institutions.
