<\/p>\r\nThe bill transfers about 3.5 acres in Alaska to the Southcentral Foundation<\/a>, which provides health care to Native people in and around Anchorage, the state’s most populous region. The land will be used to develop a new health facility.\r\n <\/p>\r\n“This bill transfers land already in use and allows Southcentral Foundation to make long-term investments in modern infrastructure,” said Rep. Nick Begich<\/a> (R-Alaska), the sponsor of H.R.3620.\r\n <\/P>\r\n“The bill supports tribal self-determination, strengthens care delivery and empowers a trusted partner to do even more for our communities,” said Begich.\r\n <\/P>\r\nA hearing on the bill took place before the House Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs<\/a> on June 11, 2025<\/a>. Leanndra Ross, the vice president of Executive and Tribal Services at Southcentral Foundation, testified in support.\r\n <\/p>\r\nThe House Committee on Natural Resources<\/a> approved the bill at a markup on July 23, 2025<\/a>.\r\n <\/p>\r\nFollowing consideration, the House passed H.R.3620 under a suspension of the rules.\r\n
