In that role, she handled several historic cases, touching on tribal sovereignty, treaties, the Indian Child Welfare Act and the opioid epidemic in Indian Country.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nHill has been nominated by President Joe Biden to <a href=https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2023\/10\/18\/cherokee-nation-attorney-makes-history-as-first-native-judicial-nominee-in-oklahoma\/>serve as a United States District Judge for the Northern District of Oklahoma<a\/>. If confirmed, she would be the first Native woman and the first Native person to be a federal judge in her home state.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nHill appeared before the <a href=https:\/\/www.judiciary.senate.gov\/>Senate Committee on the Judiciary<\/a> at a hearing in Washington, D.C.
