More than a third of them died.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nMeanwhile in Michigan, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lrd.usace.army.mil\/News\/News-Releases\/Display\/Article\/4342780\/corps-of-engineers-removes-obelisk-at-brady-park-in-agreement-with-tribal-natio\/\">U.S. Army Corps of Engineers removed a Washington Monument-style obelisk<\/a> commemorating the construction of shipping locks on Lake Michigan. The obelisk sat atop the remainder of a burial ground. \r\n<p><\/p>\r\nLock construction destroyed the main part of the sacred area but the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baymills.org\">Bay Mills Indian Community<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saulttribe.com\">Sault Ste.
