Photo by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nativesunnews.today\/articles\/plans-for-remembering-the-children-memorial-park-released\/\">Travis Dewes \/ Native Sun News Today<\/a> <\/figcaption>\r\n<\/div><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"h3-responsive font-weight-bold\">Plans for \u2018Remembering the Children\u2019 Memorial Park released<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"date\">Tuesday, October 20, 2020<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"byline\">By Travis Dewes<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"source\">Native Sun News Today Staff Writer<\/div>\r\n<div class=source-website><a href=https:\/\/www.nativesunnews.today\/>nativesunnews.today<\/a><\/div>\r\n<P><\/P>\r\nRAPID CITY \u2013 Plans for a memorial which will honor the students of the <a href=https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SiouxSanLands>Rapid City Indian Boarding School<\/a> were unveiled during the third annual Native American Day walk that remembers the children who died at the school. \r\n<P><\/P>\r\nThe memorial will be named Remembering the Children and the plans can be viewed at <a href=https:\/\/www.rememberingthechildren.org\/>rememberingthechildren.org<\/a>, along with the names of attendants of the school, correspondence of school administration, and the names of the children who passed away during attendance. \r\n<P><\/P>\r\nThe memorial, which will be placed on land between West Middle School and the Canyon Lake Methodist Church, is going to feature a long walking path, sweat lodges, and a large medicine wheel. \r\n<P><\/P>\r\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SiouxSanLands\/posts\/3083614308410161\" data-show-text=\"true\" data-width=\"\"><blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SiouxSanLands\/posts\/3083614308410161\" class=\"fb-xfbml-parse-ignore\">Posted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SiouxSanLands\/\">History of RC Indian Boarding School\/Sioux San &amp; West Rapid City Lands<\/a> on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SiouxSanLands\/posts\/3083614308410161\">Tuesday, October 13, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><\/div>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nGrave sites remembering the more than 50 children who died at the school will be marked with decorative burial scaffolds and individual rocks will be engraved with their names. \r\n<P><\/P>\r\nThe landscaping for the memorial park will \u201centail reintroducing traditional foods and medicine throughout the memorial including covering the hill,\u201d says Remembering the Children\u2019s website. \r\n<P><\/P>\r\n\u201cSo that the land provides prayer and nourishment available for all.
