Tribes must create an account on the Tribal Opioid Settlements Website to access and complete the \u201cNaloxone Interest Form\u201d to receive their shares of the overdose treatment medication. \r\n<p><\/p>\r\nPlease refer to the <a href=https:\/\/myemail.constantcontact.com\/CORRECTED--Tribes-now-eligible-for-Opioid-Overdose-Emergency--Medication.html?soid=1110714960954&#038;aid=KmaEvw4vZgc>NIHB update<\/a> for corrected instructions on submitting the form.<\/strong><HR>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nTribes have until October 15 to secure free opioid overdose emergency treatment medication for their communities.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n The generic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samhsa.gov\/medications-substance-use-disorders\/medications-counseling-related-conditions\/naloxone\">Naloxone<\/a> is being provided as part of a <a href=https:\/\/www.tribalopioidsettlements.com>tribal opioid settlement<\/a>. Tribes are eligible to receive free boxes of the <a href=https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/opioids\/naloxone\/>lifesaving medication<\/a> every year for 10 years.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nBut in order to receive their shares, tribes must submit a participation form by email, fax or mail. Boxes of Naloxone can then be shipped to  the tribe&#8217;s pharmacy, the <a href=https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/>Indian Health Service<\/a>  or another  designated recipient.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\n&#8220;It is important to note that, while the Naloxone is free, the interest form must be filled out by the deadline for Tribes to receive their units,&#8221; the <a href=https:\/\/www.nihb.org\/>National Indian Health Board<\/a> said in an <a href=https:\/\/myemail.constantcontact.com\/Tribes-now-eligible-for-Opioid-Overdose-Emergency--Medication.html?soid=1110714960954&#038;aid=NRvggRwYLmQ>update on Monday<\/a>. &#8220;If a Tribe does not fill out the interest form, their shares will be distributed to other interested Tribes.&#8221;\r\n<P><\/P>\r\n<div class=\"embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9\">\r\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nVRm1GQgJmc?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<figcaption class=\"figure-caption\">Comagine Health Awarded the American Indian\/Alaska Native Health Care Quality Initiative: <a href=https:\/\/youtu.be\/nVRm1GQgJmc>How to Use Naloxone<\/a>\r\n<\/figcaption>\r\n<P><\/P>\r\nThe number of units of Naloxone each tribe will receive has already been determined by an allocation formula. According to the NIHB, each unit contains 12 boxes, and each box contains two doses of the opioid overdose emergency treatment medication.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\nThe allocation list has been published online, in <a href=https:\/\/www.tribalopioidsettlements.com\/Documents\/Tribe_Allocation_Narcan_(Units_of_12)_With_Tribe_IDs.xlsx>spreadsheet format<\/a> [XLSX], at tribalopioidsettlements.com. A <a href=https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/09\/Tribe_Allocation_Narcan_Units_of_12_With_Tribe_IDs.pdf>copy of the document<\/a> [PDF] shows that 245 tribes &#8212; or nearly 43 percent of the 574 federally recognized Indian nations &#8212; will receive one unit, meaning 12 boxes of the Naloxone doses.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe participation form can be found in the <a href=https:\/\/www.tribalopioidsettlements.com\/TevaAllergan\/Documents>&#8220;Documents&#8221; section of tribalopioidsettlements.com<\/a>. It is the PDF labeled &#8220;<a href=https:\/\/www.tribalopioidsettlements.com\/Documents\/TevaAllergan\/TevaAllergan_Participation_Agreement.pdf>Teva\/Allergan Participation Form<\/a>.&#8221;\r\n<P><\/p>\r\nFor those tribes that wish to submit a participation form online, registration is required at a separate site called <a href=https:\/\/www.mdlcentrality.com>MDL Centrality<\/a>, which is described as the &#8220;industry leading mass tort litigation management platform.&#8221; The tribal opioid settlement is on the portal.\r\n<p><\/p><div class=\"mt-1 mb-1\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8411603009680747\" data-ad-slot=\"6394965691\"><\/ins><script>(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/div><P><\/P>\r\nAccording to Special Master David R. Cohen, the  Tribal Allocation Appointee for the tribal opioid settlement, the <a href=https:\/\/www.tribalopioidsettlements.com\/TevaAllergan>Teva pharmaceutical company has agreed to pay<\/a>  about $119 million to all tribes, whether or not they participated in the litigation. The money is being distributed over 13 years, based on an allocation formula.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\nAdditionally, Teva agreed to provide the free Naloxone doses for 10 years, the <a href=https:\/\/www.tribalopioidsettlements.com\/Documents\/Tribe_Narcan_Allocation_Memo.pdf>inter-tribal allocation memo<\/a> authored by Cohen states. The memo is dated September 19.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\nAllergan is also part of the tribal opioid settlement.
