Photos courtesy Pokagon Band<\/figcaption>\r\n<div class=\"h3-responsive font-weight-bold\">Pokagon Band welcomes new council members<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"date\">Wednesday, August 16, 2023<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"source\">Indianz.Com<\/div>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pokagonband-nsn.gov\">Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians<\/a> held a swearing-in ceremony for four newly elected members of its tribal council.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe inauguration took place on Saturday. Joining the council are Andrew Bennett, John M. Morseau,  Victor Warren   and Dr. Alex Wesaw.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\n\u201cOn behalf of our current tribal council and more than 6,000 Pokagon citizens, I would like to personally welcome our newly elected members,&#8221; Chairwoman Rebecca Richards said in a news release on Tuesday. &#8220;We have a mix of returning members, as well as a first-time member, all of which will contribute to a very productive Council.&#8221;\r\n<P><\/p>\r\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fpokagonband%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0fMhoaMuhxx3oNsyfgWHTV3SrDKuAEYEsQ5iM8r5TPn96R5r7Bwc6yy3Z51s8jfScl&#038;show_text=true&#038;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"440\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe>\r\n<P><\/P>\r\n&#8220;I look forward to working closely with everyone to achieve our goals, and I would also like to sincerely thank our outgoing members at large, Brandon Rapp and Steve Winchester, for their service to our tribal council and our nation,\u201d said Richards.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=476&#038;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fpokagonband%2Fvideos%2F278665991453285%2F&#038;show_text=true&#038;width=267&#038;t=0\" width=\"267\" height=\"591\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe>\r\n<P><\/P>\r\nBennett, Morseau and Warren are serving on the council as at-large members. Bennett and  Morseau  have previously served on the tribe&#8217;s executive governing body while Warren is a newcomer.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nWesaw is also a returning member. He was elected as Treasurer of the council, the tribe said.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<div class=\"mt-1 mb-1\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8411603009680747\" data-ad-slot=\"6394965691\"><\/ins><script>(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/div><p><\/p>\r\nThe council consists of 11 seats. Elections are staggered, with members serving three-year terms.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe Pokagon Band is headquartered in Dowagiac, Michigan, with a  satellite office   located in South Bend, Indiana.
