In recent days, <a href=https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2023\/04\/12\/1169269161\/npr-leaves-twitter-government-funded-media-label>National Public Radio<\/a> (NPR) and <a href=https:\/\/variety.com\/2023\/digital\/news\/pbs-suspends-twitter-npr-musk-government-funded-media-1235582496\/>Public Broadcasting Service<\/a> (PBS) in the United States, along. with the <a href=https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/world\/cbc-twitter-government-funded-media-1.6812591>Canadian Broadcasting Company<\/a> (CBC) in Canada, have quit  posting new content on Twitter  after the platform started labeling their accounts differently due to their receipt of public funds in their respective countries.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\nTwitter&#8217;s owner, <a href=https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Elon_Musk>Elon Musk<\/a>, also has repeatedly tangled with journalists since he acquired the platform in a deal worth $44 billion in October 2022. The site has suspended journalists and has adopted and changed policies affecting media companies in a way that many see as <a href=https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/12\/15\/twitter-suspends-journalists-musk-00074261>arbitrary and capricious<\/a>.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\nICT said it would continue to post on other social media platforms. The publication, which is  an <a href=https:\/\/ictnews.org\/page\/about-us>independent, non-profit organization<\/a>, had more than 164,000 followers as of Wednesday afternoon.\r\n<p><\/p><div class=\"mt-1 mb-1\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8411603009680747\" data-ad-slot=\"6394965691\"><\/ins><script>(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/div><p><\/p>\r\nIndian Country Today was founded by the <a href=https:\/\/www.indianz.com\/news\/2022\/07\/25\/indian-country-today-legacy-tim-giago\/>late journalist Tim Giago<\/a>, who was a citizen of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. The outlet began as the newspaper in South Dakota known as The Lakota Times.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe Oneida Nation later acquired Indian Country Today from Giago but eventually <a href=https:\/\/www.indianz.com\/news\/2017\/09\/05\/oneida-nation-announces-indefinite-hiatu.asp>suspended operations in September 2017<\/a>.
