An overwhelming majority of Jewish voters in New York\u2019s 3rd Congressional District \u2013 94% \u2013 think their freshman Republican representative, George Santos, should resign from Congress over a web of lies about his background, according to a <\/span>new poll<\/span><\/a> published Tuesday.  <\/span><\/p>

Jews made up 13% of the 653 registered voters in the poll conducted by Siena College for <\/span>Newsday<\/span><\/i> between Jan. 23 and 26 via landline and cellphone. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points. <\/span><\/p>

Santos has come under fire <\/span>for lying about having Jewish grandparents<\/span><\/a> who fled persecution during World War II and <\/span>calling himself a \u201cproud American Jew\u201d<\/span><\/a> during the campaign. He reportedly <\/span>posted offensive remarks about the Holocaust<\/span><\/a> and made jokes about Jewish stereotypes before he ran for Congress.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n
