{"id":297320,"date":"2025-11-12T11:01:01","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T17:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/?p=297320"},"modified":"2025-11-12T11:02:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-12T17:02:07","slug":"press-release-choctaw-nation-welcomes-deal-to-reopen-federal-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2025\/11\/12\/press-release-choctaw-nation-welcomes-deal-to-reopen-federal-government\/","title":{"rendered":"PRESS RELEASE: Choctaw Nation welcomes deal to reopen federal government"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"h3-responsive font-weight-bold\">Choctaw Nation Statement on Potential  Federal Government Reopening, Continuation of Food Program<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"date\">Wednesday, November 12, 2025<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"source\">Indianz.Com<\/div>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<em>The following is the text of a November 12, 2025, news release from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.choctawnation.com\/\">Choctaw Nation<\/a>.<\/em>\r\n<\/em>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nDURANT, Oklahoma &#8212;  Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) Chief Gary Batton released a statement regarding the potential reopening of the federal government and the effect on the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.  \r\n <p><\/p>\r\n\u201cWe are pleased to see members of Congress appear ready to set aside their differences and continue their work to serve all Americans,\u201d Batton said. \u201cBecause of the uncertainty about when vital SNAP funds will be available, the Choctaw Nation will continue help Tribal members impacted by this delay in funding.\u201d \r\n <p><\/p>\r\nEarlier, the Tribe launched a temporary program that allows eligible Tribal members and guardians of Tribal member children nationwide to apply for a one-time $150 food assistance. Applications remain open through November 14 through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.choctawnation.com\/services\/chahta-achvffa\/\">Chata Achvffa member services portal<\/a> on CNO\u2019s website.  \r\n <p><\/p>\r\nOnce approved, recipients will receive an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card through the mail.   \r\n <p><\/p>\r\n\u201cTo date, we have received more than 6,700 applications, and we have provided $1.8 million to help people feed their families.
