Those trends mean forestry officials have to work both to prevent the most destructive fires and restore areas that burned. \r\n
<\/p>\r\nTraditional tribal ecological knowledge can inform that work and some non-tribal officials are taking notice. Today on Native America Calling, Shawn Spruce speaks with tribal forestry directors about working with government agencies and the threats facing forests.\r\n
<\/p>\r\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1920\" data-attachment-id=\"29635\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2022\/11\/14\/native-america-calling-saving-and-healing-forests\/prescribedburn\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/14\/PrescribedBurn-scaled.jpg\" data-orig-size=\"2560,1920\" data-comments-opened=\"0\" data-image-meta=\"{"aperture":"2.2","credit":"","camera":"iPhone 6s","caption":"","created_timestamp":"1506530328","copyright":"","focal_length":"4.15","iso":"25","shutter_speed":"0.0028571428571429","title":"","orientation":"0"}\" data-image-title=\"Prescribed Burn\" data-image-description=\"<p>Prescribed Burn<\/p>\n\" data-image-caption=\"<p>A prescribed burn at the William L.
