But what of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/magazine\/2022\/10\/10\/the-bodies-in-the-cave\">remains from private lands or in museums<\/a> and private collections that don\u2019t take government funds? \r\n<P><\/P>\r\n\r\nIt was once common practice for archaeologists &#8212; both professional and amateur &#8212; to plunder burial sites.
