This award names four current or recent graduate students as Fall Conference Fellows. NEW OFFICE TO ADVOCATE FOR TRIBES.<\/div>\r\nActing Commissioner Kilolo Kijakazi announced that the Social Security Administration (SSA) is establishing an Office of Native American Partnerships within the Office of the Commissioner.  This office will elevate and centralize efforts to administer comprehensive programs and policies related to American Indians and Alaska Natives.  It will enhance the agency\u2019s relationship with Tribes and serve as the primary point of contact on Tribal affairs for all stakeholders. \r\n <p><\/p>\r\n\u201cWe remain steadfast in our commitment to reducing barriers to ensure people who are eligible for our benefits receive them,\u201d Acting Commissioner Kilolo Kijakazi said. \u201cEstablishing our new Office of Native American Partnerships strengthens that commitment by providing Tribal communities more representation and a strong advocate, messenger, and facilitator within Social Security\u2019s Office of the Commissioner.\u201d\r\n <p><\/p>\r\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Acting Commissioner Kilolo Kijakazi announced today that the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SocialSecurity?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SocialSecurity<\/a> is establishing an Office of Native American Partnerships within the Office of the Commissioner. It will seek to improve services to communities by engaging in meaningful national and regional policy consultations, roundtable discussions, and seminars with Tribal and Federal experts. It will also coordinate internal agency Native American efforts, increase external program awareness to the Tribal community, help to recruit a diverse candidate pool for hiring at all levels of Social Security, and serve as the primary point of contact for Tribal Government Offices to foster transparency and collaboration. Additionally, the office will conduct ongoing data collection and analysis to improve outreach to Tribal communities.\r\n <p><\/p>\r\nEstablishing the Office of Native American Partnerships supports President Biden\u2019s 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2021\/01\/20\/executive-order-advancing-racial-equity-and-support-for-underserved-communities-through-the-federal-government\/\">Executive Order (EO) 13985:  Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities<\/a>, as well as other Federal guidance on coordination and collaboration with Tribal Governments.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-block\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/people\/aian\/\" role=\"button\">Learn More<\/a>\r\n\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\"><EM>3. FOR COMMUNITIES:<\/EM><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\">AFFORDABLE CONNECTIVITY PROGRAM<\/div>\r\nThe <a href=https:\/\/www.fcc.gov\/acp>Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC benefit program<\/a> that helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe <a href=https:\/\/www.fcc.gov\/acp>Affordable Connectivity Program<\/a> is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-block\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fcc.gov\/acp\" role=\"button\">Learn More<\/a>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\"><EM>4.
