A number of provisions address  <a href=https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2022\/08\/08\/inflation-reduction-act-brings-new-climate-and-energy-investments-to-indian-country\/>climate resiliency and energy development initiatives in Native communities<\/a>.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\n\u201cMore than $720 million in federal funding is heading to Native communities to support Native-led climate solutions and advance tribal energy development,\u201d said <a href=https:\/\/www.schatz.senate.gov\/>Sen. Brian Schatz<\/a>  (D-Hawaii), the chair of the committee.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\">Senate Committee on Indian Affairs &#8211; Inflation Reduction Act [<a href=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/16\/sciainflationreductionact.pdf\">PDF<\/a>] <\/div>\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/16\/sciainflationreductionact.pdf\" class=\"pdfemb-viewer\" style=\"\" data-width=\"max\" data-height=\"max\" data-toolbar=\"both\" data-toolbar-fixed=\"on\">sciainflationreductionact<\/a>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nThe committee released a <a href=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/16\/sciainflationreductionact.pdf\">resource guide  outlining the Native-specific investments<\/a> in the new law.\r\nThe direct funding includes:\r\n<P><\/P>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>$235 million for Tribal climate resilience, including fish hatchery operations and maintenance<\/li>\r\n<li>$225 million for development of Tribal high-efficiency electric home rebate programs<\/li>\r\n<li>$150 million for Tribal home electrification<\/li>\r\n<li>$75 million for the Tribal Energy Loan Guarantee Program and $20 billion in allowable loan guarantees<\/li>\r\n<li>$25 million for Native Hawaiian climate resilience<\/li>\r\n<li>$12.5 million for Tribal emergency drought relief<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n\u201cOur resource guide will help tribes and Native communities navigate the Inflation Reduction Act\u2019s direct investment in climate adaptation and clean energy \u2013 the largest ever in U.S. history,\u201d   Schatz said in a <a href=https:\/\/www.indian.senate.gov\/news\/press-release\/schatz-releases-resource-guide-largest-investment-climate-adaptation-clean-energy>news release<\/a>.\r\n<p><\/p><div class=\"mt-1 mb-1\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8411603009680747\" data-ad-slot=\"6394965691\"><\/ins><script>(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/div><p><\/p>\r\nAdditionally, the law expands loan and loan guarantee programs for tribes and ensures that tribes are eligible to apply for competitive grants throughout the federal government. The resource guide described the opportunities as worth &#8220;billions&#8221; of dollars.\r\n<P><\/p>\r\nThe Inflation Reduction Act was enacted as <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/5376>H.R.5376<\/a>. The bill passed the <a href=https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/>U.S. Senate<\/a> on August 7.
