\r\nCovid-19 strikes hard at Crow Creek<\/h1>\r\nFriday, September 11, 2020<\/div>\r\nBy Travis Dewes<\/div>\r\nNative Sun News Today Staff Writer<\/div>\r\nnativesunnews.today<\/A> \r\n<\/DIV>\r\n<\/p>\r\nBIG BEND \u2014 In a short amount of time, nearly 25 of the 80 residents of Big Bend, a community on the Crow Creek Reservation, had tested positive for COVID-19<\/a> in June and July. Now several of them are dead and life has not returned to normal. <\/p>\r\nThe most recent person to pass away was 57-year-old Ethel Left Hand Bull who lost her battle after more than a month on life support in the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Left Hand Bull was a supervisor for the COVID-19 security team and a long-time fifth grade teacher at St. Francis Indian School. She would have received her master\u2019s degree in education in August. \r\n
<\/p>\r\nA majority of the people that tested positive in Bed Bend were COVID-19 security team members or close to someone who was. 38-year-old Wesley Fire Cloud Jr. and 34-year-old Randy His Law died of COVID in early July. All three were members of the security team. \r\n

<\/p>\r\nHowe described the current situation at Big Bend by saying \u201cA lot of families are self-quarantining even though there are no orders to and the kids hardly play outside anymore.\u201d \r\n
