LET&#8217;S TALK ABOUT TAX:<\/em><\/div>\r\nNAFOA to Attend the Affiliated Tribes of the Northwest Indians Annual Convention Oct 12th-16th\r\nThis week, NAFOA will attend the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI) Annual Convention at the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort. Executive Director Cory Blankenship, Second Vice President Celina Phair, Geoff Urbina of KeyBanc Capital Markets, and Telly Meier of Hobbs Strauss Dean Walker will discuss the Tribal Tax and Investment Reform Act of 2025 (S.2022). This bill was introduced by Senators Cortez Masto (D-NV) and Murkowski (R-AK) earlier this year to correct long-standing inequities in Federal Tax Law for Indian Tribal Governments.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\nNAFOA will lead a panel discussion in the convention\u2019s morning general session on Tuesday, October 14th, and during the Taxation Committee Meeting the same afternoon. The panelists will be available to answer questions and provide additional resources about the bill.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\n<a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-block\" href=\"https:\/\/nafoa.org\/support-the-tribal-tax-and-investment-reform-act\/\" role=\"button\">Support the Tribal Tax and Investment Reform Act<\/a>\r\n\r\n<P><\/P>\r\n<div class=\"h5-responsive sub\"><em>2. COMMUNITY:<\/em><\/div>\r\nThe Federal Government Will Transition Away from Paper Checks to Electronic Payments\r\nExecutive Order (EO) 14247 \u201cModernizing Payments To and From America\u2019s Bank Account\u201d transitions federal payments to electronic methods. Starting September 30, 2025, most federal payments that are currently made by paper check\u2014including Social Security benefits and tax refunds\u2014will be made electronically. \r\n<P><\/P>\r\nIn order to promote public awareness of the Federal Government\u2019s shift to secure electronic payments, the Department of the Treasury has created a new resource page related to EO 14247 at MyMoney.gov\/FederalPayments.
