According to the <a href=https:\/\/www.bia.gov\/>Bureau of Indian Affairs<\/a>, the development would provide a combined capacity of up to 700 megawatts for the tribe.\r\n<P><\/P>\r\n\u201cClean energy, including solar projects like these in Nevada, will help tribal communities be part of the climate solution,\u201d   Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Bryan Newland said in a news release on Thursday.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n \u201cWe are proud to play a role in the administration\u2019s all-of-government approach toward its ambitious renewable energy goals, which will boost local economies and address economic and environmental injustice,\u201d said Newland, a citizen of the Bay Mills Indian Community.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n<div class=\" content_cards_card content_cards_domain_twitter-com\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content_cards_image\">\n\t\t\t\t<a class=\"content_cards_image_link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PrimServices\/status\/1476294468902993926\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/15\/fhzz_ktxmaycs0m-2.jpg\" alt=\"Primoris Services Corporation (@PrimServices) on X\">\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\n\t<div class=\"content_cards_title\">\n\t\t<a class=\"content_cards_title_link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PrimServices\/status\/1476294468902993926\">\n\t\t\tPrimoris Services Corporation (@PrimServices) on X\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"content_cards_description\">\n\t\t<a class=\"content_cards_description_link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PrimServices\/status\/1476294468902993926\">\n\t\t\t<p>In a partnership between Primoris Renewable Energy, our customer &amp; the Moapa Band of Paiutes, a 380mw solar energy facility was designed &amp; constructed on the Moapa Indian Reservation in NV. The project employed 150+ tribal members during peak construction: https:\/\/t.co\/cK7aDOBtth https:\/\/t.co\/Afe1mA3DIC<\/p>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"content_cards_site_name\">\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/favicon.ico\" alt=\"X (formerly Twitter)\" class=\"content_cards_favicon\"\/>\t\tX (formerly Twitter)\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\r\n<p><\/p>\r\nChuckwalla joins two other  solar projects under development for the Moapa Band. Construction recently began on the <a href=https:\/\/www.arrowcanyonsolarseis.com\/>Arrow Canyon Solar Project<\/a> that will generate enough electricity to power up to 64,000 homes. It&#8217;s expected to be complete by December.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n The <a href=https:\/\/southernbighornsolar.com\/>Southern Bighorn Solar Project<\/a>   gained <a href=https:\/\/www.doi.gov\/pressreleases\/interior-department-advances-two-solar-energy-projects-tribal-lands>final approval at the federal level<\/a> last summer. This development is even larger, with the capacity to power up to 128,000 homes.\r\n<p><\/p>\r\n\u201cThe time for a clean energy future is now \u2014 and tribal communities have a significant role to play in the administration\u2019s ambitious goals,&#8221; <a href=https:\/\/twitter.com\/SecDebHaaland>Secretary Deb Haaland<\/a>, who is the first Native person to lead the <a href=https:\/\/www.doi.gov\/>Department of the Interior<\/a>, said in a news release on July 16, 2021. &#8220;These solar projects will support local tribal economies while adding to the nation\u2019s clean energy supply.\u201d \r\n<p><\/p>\r\n \u201cThe department is committed to making bold investments that will address the climate crisis, create good-paying jobs, and advance environmental justice,\u201d said Haaland, a citizen of the Pueblo of Laguna.\r\n<p><\/p><div class=\"mt-1 mb-1\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8411603009680747\" data-ad-slot=\"6394965691\"><\/ins><script>(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});<\/script><\/div><p><\/p>\r\nThe BIA is publishing <a href=https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/03\/2022-04545.pdf>notice of the draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) for the Chuckwalla Solar Projects<\/a>  in the <a href=https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov>Federal Register<\/a> on Friday. \r\nTwo virtual public meetings have been scheduled: at 1:30pm Mountain Time on Tuesday, March 15 and at 5:30pm on Wednesday, March 16. \r\n<P><\/p>\r\nOnce the <a href=https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/>Environmental Protection Agency<\/a> published its own notice of availability of the DEIS in the Federal Register, a   45-day comment period will begin.
