{"id":17624,"date":"2021-11-02T10:39:04","date_gmt":"2021-11-02T14:39:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.indianz.com\/News\/?p=17624"},"modified":"2021-11-02T10:40:57","modified_gmt":"2021-11-02T14:40:57","slug":"h-r-5221-urban-indian-health-confer-act","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indianz.com\/News\/2021\/11\/02\/h-r-5221-urban-indian-health-confer-act\/","title":{"rendered":"H.R.5221 &#8211; Urban Indian Health Confer Act"},"content":{"rendered":"The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.house.gov\/\">U.S. House of Representatives<\/a> considers <a href=https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/5221>H.R.5221<\/a>, the Urban Indian Health Confer Act,  on November 1, 2021.\r\n<p><\/p>  \r\nThe bill amends the <a href=https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/ihcia\/>Indian Health Care Improvement Act<\/a> to require  all agencies within  the <a href=https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/>Department of Health and Human Services<\/a> to &#8220;confer, to the maximum extent practicable, with urban Indian organizations.&#8221; Currently, only the   <a href=https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/>Indian Health Service<\/a> has a formal policy to confer with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/urban\/urban-indian-organizations\/\">urban Indian providers<\/a>.  \r\n<P><\/P>\r\nFollowing consideration of the bill, a Republican member of the House requested a recorded vote on H.R.5221.
