<\/p> \r\nThe bill places about 721 acres into trust for the Pala Band of Mission Indians<\/a>. The land is located around Gregory Canyon<\/a>, a sacred area in San Diego County in California that was once slated for development before the tribe started a campaign to preserve it.\r\n

<\/p> \r\nH.R.1975 was previously approved by the House Committee on Natural Resources<\/a> during a markup on October 13<\/a>.\r\n

<\/p>\r\nFollowing consideration of the bill, a Republican member of the House requested a recorded vote on H.R.1975. As a result, further proceedings were postponed.\r\n

<\/p>\r\nHowever, it is expected that the measure will pass as soon as November 2, according to the Majority Leader<\/a>, or sometime during the week.\r\n
