LEARN AT YOUR OWN PACE WITH NAFOA’S CAREER BASICS<\/div>\r\nCareer Basics has been extended until January 2022! Participants who successfully complete Career Basics are eligible to apply for the 2022 NAFOA Leadership Summit<\/a> taking place April 3, 2022, in Seattle Washington.\r\n

<\/p>\r\nCareer Basics is a free online program specifically designed for Native youth and young professionals ages 18-26 years old. The self-paced program will teach you invaluable career readiness and financial literacy skills to prepare you for the workforce. Learn how how to write a cover letter, how to budget your finances, how to do an elevator pitch, and more with our free online program. \r\n

2. LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT:<\/em><\/div>\r\n
INDIGENOUS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY<\/div>\r\nThe American Indian Policy Institute<\/a> (AIPI) is proud to announce the creation of the Indigenous Leadership Academy with support from Arizona Public Service. The goal of the Academy is to work with emerging Indigenous leaders from throughout Arizona by expanding their knowledge, skills, and networks to address long-term issues faced by Indigenous governments, communities, associations, and corporations, located within the state of Arizona. \r\n

<\/p>\r\nThe Indigenous Leadership Academy application for the inaugural cohort is now open. The total cost of the program will be $1250, if you apply you will be automatically considered for a scholarship up to $1000 to offset the cost. The Program will run from January 2022 through March 2022. The deadline to apply is November 15, 2021<\/a>.\r\n

<\/p>\r\nAttendance is mandatory in this hybrid model. The first and last meeting will be in person and all Arizona State University safety protocols will be followed. The inaugural cohort is for Arizona residents only, however, we are hoping to have it open outside of Arizona in future cohorts.\r\n

3. WEBINARS: <\/em><\/div>\r\n
ECONOMIC INCLUSION FOR NATIVE AMERICANS: ACCESS TO SAFE AND AFFORDABLE BANK ACCOUNTS <\/div>\r\nThe Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is hosting a webinar to highlight the need for access to safe and affordable bank accounts in Native American communities. \r\n

<\/p>\r\nPresenters from the Oklahoma Native Assets Coalition (ONAC) and two financial institutions that serve Native American communities will discuss why bank account access is critical for Native Americans, detail ONAC\u2019s national effort to bring Native Americans into the financial mainstream, and offer strategies for reaching unbanked Native American households.\r\n
