<\/p>\r\nThe leadership of the National Congress of American Indians<\/a> is mostly staying the same following an election at the organization’s annual meeting.\r\n

<\/P>\r\nFawn Sharp<\/a>, vice president of the Quinault Nation<\/a>, is returning for a second term as President of NCAI. She was elected by acclamation on Wednesday after the only other person who was nominated withdrew from consideration.\r\n

<\/p>\r\n Keith Anderson of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community<\/a> said he was surprised to have been nominated for president. He bowed out of the race, leaving Sharp as the only candidate. \r\n

<\/p>\r\nNew to NCAI executive board of officers<\/a> is Mark Macarro. The longtime chairman of the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians<\/a> defeated two other candidates for the post of Vice President, according to results reported on Thursday.\r\n

<\/p>\r\nMacarro won 51.6 percent of the vote, according to the results. Lance Gumbs of the Shinnecock Nation<\/a> came in second with 29.4 percent while Juana Majel-Dixon of the Pauma Band of Luiseno Indians<\/a> had 19.0 percent.\r\n

<\/p>\r\n

According to @NCAI1944<\/a> election results present at #NCAIAnnual21<\/a> on October 14, 2021, Mark Macarro won 51.6 percent of the vote.

Lance Gumbs (Shinnecock Nation) had 29.4 percent.
