The White Earth Nation hosted the totem pole in Minnesota on July 24, followed by the Bay Mills Indian Community in Michigan on July 25.

In Minnesota, tribes and their allies are fighting the replacement of the Line 3 pipeline, citing threats to their wild rice, water and treaty rights. In Michigan, Line 5 has been operating in violation of law. Both pipelines are owned by Enbridge, whose headquarters are in Canada.

Red Road to DC

Indianz.Com Video: House of Tears Carvers Totem Pole Blessing #RedRoadToDC

Indianz.Com Video: Eric Day, Swinomish Tribe #RedRoadToDC

After 20,000 miles and 115 stops across the country, a group of Native carvers and elders have finally arrived in the nation’s capital, bringing much-needed attention to sacred sites and tribal rights.
"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

11,1,14
624,1068,112,283,157,1847,346,88,118,223,40,1849,894,53,1850,1853,1846,523,381,490,7,167,1851,672,302,182,803,1848,43,1852,98,754,154,314,153,1141
post-14447","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-environment","category-national","category-politics","tag-bay-mills","tag-bears-ears","tag-black-hills","tag-climate-change","tag-consultation","tag-dakota-access-pipelines","tag-dc","tag-deb-haaland","tag-doi","tag-fawn-sharp","tag-food","tag-fredrick-lane","tag-idaho","tag-joe-biden","tag-judith-leblanc","tag-julia-bernal","tag-lummi","tag-michigan","tag-minnesota","tag-museums","tag-ncai","tag-new-mexico","tag-nez-perce","tag-nmai","tag-north-dakota","tag-pueblo","tag-rosalyn-lapier","tag-rudy-soto","tag-sacred-sites","tag-salmon","tag-south-dakota","tag-standing-rock-sioux","tag-treaties","tag-washington","tag-water","tag-white-earth","no-wpautop
["GET
