While the applauded and bold legislative package will undoubtedly have a monumental impact on addressing the economic and public health crisis exacted on tribes by COVID-19, the dollars themselves do not ensure success. “It’s going to be a struggle … but with proper technical assistance and support, they can really make a pretty big bang for this amount of buck,” said Wayne Ducheneaux, Executive Director of the Native Governance Center.

In practice, it’s going to require hard work and disciplined strategic planning to properly invest these funds. Unlike the rush to allocate CARES Act dollars, maximizing the ARP funds towards the right initiatives through 2024 could equate to protecting your financial sovereignty for generations to come.

Read more in the Spring 2021 NAFOA Navigator (page 109)
"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

10,19,20,1,14
1308,157,138,36,499,89
post-10677","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-health","category-indian-trust","category-national","category-politics","tag-american-rescue-plan","tag-consultation","tag-meetings","tag-nafoa","tag-taxation","tag-treasury","no-wpautop
["GET
