<\/p>\r\nSecretary of the Interior Deb Haaland<\/a> is heading up the United States delegation to the upcoming United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues<\/a>.\r\n

<\/p>\r\nHaaland, who is the first Native person to lead the Department of the Interior<\/a>, will deliver a keynote to the forum next week. She is expected to address economic, climate, and racial injustice issues facing American Indians and Alaska Natives in the U.S.\r\n

<\/p>\r\n“To tackle these challenges in the U.S., the Interior Department has committed to using an all-of-agency approach that will strengthen nation-to-nation relationships, make substantial investments in Tribal Nations, promote racial justice and equity for historically marginalized communities, and address the existential threat of climate change,” the federal agency said in an announcement on Wednesday.\r\n
