FOR TRIBES:<\/em><\/div>\r\nSTATE DEPARTMENT TO HOST TRIBAL CONSULTATION TODAY, MONDAY APRIL 12 AT 3:30PM ET[\/sub]\r\nThe Department of State will hold a consultation to seek Tribe Leaders’ recommendations and feedback on how they can improve the Department’s policies and practices to engage better with Tribal governments. The State Department invites you to join for a virtual consultation on:\r\n

<\/P>\r\nDate of Consultation: Monday, April 12\r\nTime of Consultation: 3:30 – 5:30pm EDT\r\n

<\/P>\r\nThe consultation will be held virtual via WebEx, which allows for video and\/or telephone participation; an invitation with the specific link for the meeting will be sent to those who have registered.\r\n

2. #NAFOA2021:<\/em><\/div>\r\n
JOIN A LIVE PODCAST SESSION AT #NAFOA2021<\/div>\r\nNAFOA’s podcast, “Standing for Tomorrow<\/a>,” invites tribal leaders to discuss the financial, community, and personal impacts of the pandemic on their tribes. We will be hosting a live podcast session for our final keynote of the Virtual 39th Annual Conference featuring Chairman Jamie Azure of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and President Rodney Bordeaux of Rosebud Sioux Tribe. Moderated by NAFOA’s VaRene Martin, Director of Tribal and Corporate Relations and 1st Vice President.\r\n

TREASURY TRIBAL ADVISORY SUBCOMMITTEES NEED TRIBAL FEEDBACK<\/div>\r\nDual Taxation Subcommittee:<\/strong>
\r\nThe Dual Taxation Subcommittee finalized their report of recommendations<\/a> to the Department of the Treasury and submitted it to the TTAC during their December 9, 2020 meeting. The TTAC and the Department of the Treasury are hosting a Consultation and listening session on this report during NAFOA’s virtual Annual Conference on April 30, 2021 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm ET. While this Consultation and listening session will be aligned with NAFOA’s conference, it is open to all. For more information and to register, please see Treasury’s Dear Tribal Leader Letter. \r\n

<\/P>\r\nGeneral Welfare Exclusion Act Subcommittee:<\/strong>
\r\nThe Subcommittee on General Welfare Exclusion Act is soliciting input from tribal governments<\/a> on its draft report prior to making final recommendations to the TTAC on guidance under the Tribal General Welfare Exclusion Act and the Internal Revenue Code Section 139E. The subcommittee will be holding a telephonic tribal leader session on April 22, 2021 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm ET to gather input. Register Here. Written comments should be submitted to ellie@nafoa.org and fabbas@ncai.org no later than 5:00pm ET on April 23, 2021. The solicitation letter and draft report are solely on behalf of the GWE Subcommittee and is not an action of the TTAC.\r\n
