MAY 10, 2001 President Bush on Wednesday urged the Senate to act swiftly to confirm the 11 nominees he named to the federal bench. Senate Democrats who have vowed to block any nominees to whom members of their party object said they were encouraged by the White House effort to get their views. None criticized Bush's choices. Liberal groups are beginning to protest some of the nominees. Bush's picks were largely conservative. Bush Announces Nominees:
