MONDAY, APRIL 1, 2002 The authors of a report citing dangers to wildlife should drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge be approved were hindered from releasing their research, The Anchorage Daily News reports. According to the paper, clearance was given to disseminate the report early Friday morning. But bureaucrats in Washington, D.C., prevented it from being released or posted online for several hours. The delay didn't stop one Department of Interior bureaucrat, Mark Pfeifle, from giving the Bush administration's spin on the report. Before the document was officially released, he was telling reporters that restricted development would not affect caribou, musk oxen and other animals. Get the Story:
