The Department of Defense is eyeing areas near the Fort Belknap Reservation in Montana for a fighter pilot training ground.

But some residents aren't welcoming the proposal for fear it would threaten traditional hunting grounds, plant gathering, and cause noise. The DOD says the training ground, where pilots would use dummy bombs and ammunition, would be an economic and employment stimulus.

Two sites near the reservation are being considered. Another by a nearby town is also being looked at.

Fort Belknap is home to the Assiniboine and the Gros Ventre tribes.
