Yurok Tribe protests DOI's water conference

FRIDAY, JULY 11, 2003 Members of the Yurok Tribe of California joined fishermen and environmentalists in protesting a Department of Interior Water 2025 conference on water conflicts. Tribal members protested the lack of Indian views at the discussion, which was held in Sacramento. Bennett Raley, the assistant secretary for water and science, said an Indian was invited but had to cancel. Raley claims to be part Indian, the Associated Press reports. Get the Story:
