The Wisconsin State Republican Party managed to offend the "the first true Americans" by putting a "racially offensive cartoon" on its web site, The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel says in an editorial.

The cartoon showed a tomahawk being thrown at a taxpayer with the slogan: "As taxpayers, we got scalped." "You'd think ever since Trent Lott resigned, lessons would be learned," the paper says.

The carton was online for only a day before being removed due to complaints by tribal leaders and others.
