Brother of ex-Crow chairman given probation

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2003 A federal judge in Montana sentenced the brother of former Crow chairman Clifford Bird in Ground to three years of probation for his role in a tribal fraud and bribery case. Alexander R. Bird in Ground pleaded guilty to taking tribal money to buy a pickup truck. He was ordered to pay back $26,444, the cost of a 1999 Dodge Durango, The Billings Gazette reported. Clifford Bird in Ground pleaded guilty to taking kickbacks for helping direct tribal money to a local car dealership. He awaits sentencing. Get the Story:
