Blackfeet council chairman ousted from post

FRIDAY, JANUARY 17, 2003 The chairman of the Blackfeet Nation tribal council has been ousted from his position, The Great Fall Tribune reported. Six members of the council voted January 10 to remove William "Allen" Talks About. Those six members are currently the subject of a recall petition that has gathered nearly 1,000 signatures. Tribal council vice-chairman Jimmy St. Goddard is one of the six who voted to remove Talks About. St. Goddard was the subject of a removal action last year. Supporters of Talks About say he is being targeted because he initiated an investigation into the financial dealings of the tribe. Get the Story:
