Editorial: State police not at fault for raid

"The State Police are not at fault here. They followed orders, in the same way our military is expected to follow orders. "Withdrawing" during the execution of a search warrant is an all but incomprehensible command. Who thought that one up?

Given they were ordered to conduct the raid, they did so in a professional manner. Anyone watching video footage can plainly see what internal the report concludes: "No weapons, pepper spray, batons or physical blows were used by members of the Rhode Island State Police during this incident." And that's despite provocation. There's no question the Narragansetts offered strong physical resistance: They grabbed, choked, hung onto and otherwise attempted to slow and stop police officers."
