TUESDAY, MARCH 26, 2002 Author Jeff Benedict, whose has called for the termination of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut, only became a Democrat to run for Congress, reports The New London Day. Benedict was a registered Republican for his adult life, the paper says. He later dropped his affiliation but then chose to become a Democrat to challenge incumbent Rep. Rob Simmons (R-Conn.).
