Pueblo disputes road project
FRIDAY, APRIL 26, 2002 Tesuque Pueblo officials say they are being left out of a highway improvement project in New Mexico because of their strong stance on sovereignty. The Pueblo wants a meeting with State Highway and Transportation Secretary Pete Rahn to discuss the issue. Rahn said he is willing to meet to discuss the $70 million project which will improve nine miles of highways, except a stretch of road that runs through tribal land. Rahn has said the state doesn't have the $20 million needed to fix the Pueblo's road. Get the Story:
