Wash. tribes rally against gaming bill
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2002 Tribal leaders in Washington told state lawmakers at a hearing on Thursday of their opposition to a bill that would break their monopoly on gaming. At their casinos, tribes can currently operate games like baccarat, keno, craps and roulette. A bill would allow charities, cardrooms and mini-casinos to do the same. But tribal leaders say that would destroy the benefits that gaming has brought. Get the Story:
