Cayuga land claim appealed

THURSDAY, MAY 2, 2002

The state of New York on Monday filed a notice of appeal for the Cayuga Nation's land claim.

The move was expected, as the state obtained a halt to a $247.9 million payment awarded by a federal judge. The notice, however, doesn't state on what grounds the appeal is being pursued.
