Jury picks stalled in Navajo case

It could be a couple more weeks before a white man charged with the murder of a Navajo woman faces a jury, according to lawyers on both sides of the case.

Out of a 245-member jury pool, only 87 have been questioned. Since Robert Ray Fry faces the death penalty, the proceedings are moving slow, said the attorneys.

Fry is charged with first-degree murder, abduction and attempted rape of Betty Lee, a Navajo mother of five. He also faces charges in the death of a Navajo man.

His attorney has objected to evidence that he was prejudiced against Native Americans.
