BIA said unaware of employee record

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2002

Bureau of Indian Affairs officials never knew one of their employees had eight drunk driving citations or arrests, let alone his four convictions, according to The Albuquerque Journal.

Lloyd Larson, 39, is accused of involuntary manslaughter for the deaths of two Nebraska couples on a New Mexico highway. He is alleged to have been under the influence driving his BIA-issue vehicle when the January 25 accident happened.

Funeral services were held in Nebraska last week for Larry and Rita Beller, ages 63 and 59, and Edward "Bud" and Alice Ramaekers, 61 and 60.
