Innu finances questioned
OCTOBER 20, 2000 Members of the Innu First Nation in Shetshatshiu, Newfoundland, have been complaining about the tribe's finances and records obtained by the CBC show a $2.6 million debt. The Department of Indian and Northern Affairs might take over the acccounting unless it can get an explanation of where the money has gone. DIAND is also considering an audit of the Innu First Nation, currently in Davis Inlet, but moving to Shango Bay. Get the Story:
