Kitty litter mine advancing

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2002

A kitty litter mine the Hungry Valley Indian Colony characterizes as its biggest threat is inching towards final approval in Nevada.

The Department of Interior, a local health department and the state have issued permits for the 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week clay mine and kitty litter operation to be located on land next to the Hungry Valley Reservation. A county commission next Tuesday is set to consider the final permit.
