Coal tracts subject of dispute
TUESDAY, JANUARY 29, 2002 The Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana has filed a lawsuit seeking to stop the transfer of coal tracts to the state. The tribe says it doesn't want to stop development of the tracts but only wants certain conditions met to protect cultural sites and ensure area residents are gainfully employed. The tribe is working with the state to come up with an agreement on the issues, although Gov. Judy Martz (R) questions why workplace conditions are an issue. Get the Story:
