Miccosukee Tribe protests water policy

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2001

The Miccosukee Tribe of Florida has asked a federal judge to open a water-control gate in the Everglades because tribal land is being flooded.

The tribe says the Army Corps of Engineers violated water-management policy by closing the gate. The gate is being shut to help protect an endangered sparrow.
