Man wants peak named after tribe
MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2001 The US Board of Geographic Names next month will consider a California man's application to name a peak in La Crescenta after the Gabrielino/Tongva Tribe. Richard Toyon wants the 2,600-foot mountaintop named Tongva Peak. The tribe, the city of Glendale and the county of Los Angeles are supporting his application. The tribe is not federally recognized.
