New Incan village found in Peru

TUESDAY, MARCH 19, 2002

The National Geographic Society on Monday announced the discovery of a Incan village previously unknown to archaeologists.

The village is not far from the famed site of Machu Picchu. The style and structure of buildings and artifacts are leading archaeologists to rethink their views about the Incan empire.

Much of the tombs have been looted already. Some families were found living there.
