Neb. school doubts origin of bones

It's doubtful fragments of human bones a dog recently found at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus are tied to the Native remains the school burned and sent off to a landfill in the 1960s, Chancellor Harvey Perlman told The Lincoln Journal Star on Monday.

But two activists who have been involved in the ongoing saga say it is obvious the fragments found are Native. The school incinerated the remains at the campus during between 1965 and 1967.

The school earlier this month dedicated a memorial to the remains. The ceremony was attended by various tribal leaders and Indian activists.
