Schemitzun: Real Indians, Men, Litefoot
MONDAY, AUGUST 27, 2001 Schemitzun, the pow-wow held by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut, wrapped up another successful year on Sunday on the tribe's reservation. What did visitors have to say about the event? A sampling: - "It's our first time here," Sally Allington told The New London Day, " and we love it. These boys have never seen real Indians before. This is really special."
- "I love everything Native American," Christina O'Day told The Day, "including the men." [Does she love trust land, Indianz.Com wondered.]
- "I've heard about pow wows, but this is the first time I've seen it," said a visitor all the way from the European island of Malta.
