Editorial: Keep options on Tar Creek open
THURSDAY, JUNE 19, 2003
Lawmakers should keep all options open when considering how to cleanup the Tar Creek Superfund site in Oklahoma, The Daily Oklahoman says in an editorial.
The paper says a buyout of landowners shouldn't be immediately rejected. Rep. Brad Carson (D) supports a buyout but Sen. Jim Inhofe (R) doesn't.
The Tar Creek site contains 70 millions tons of mine waste. Most of the land is owned by Quapaw tribal members.
